Organic waste: catch-up dates planned for January 17

Weather-related restrictions on waste collection continue

Meppen. Due to the wintry weather conditions with snow and icy roads, some waste collection tours in Emsland could not be carried out as planned last week. The Emsland district waste management company (AWB) provides information about the areas affected and the planned catch-up dates.

Affected tours and subsequent emptying

Last week, the following tours in particular were canceled on Friday, January 9:

Organic waste
Haren (districts: Tinnen, Emmeln, Raken, Harenerfähr, Haren north of the B408), Lathen (sub-areas), Oberlangen, Niederlangen, Neusustrum and Niederlangen-Siedlung.

The organic waste garbage cans will be emptied later on Saturday, January 17. Containers not emptied on January 9 in the above-mentioned areas should therefore be provided on the evening before the emptying date.

Residual waste
Unfortunately, it is not possible to empty the bins in the following areas: parts of Meppen and districts, Lingen (Gauerbach-Baccum) and Haren and districts (sub-areas).

Paper waste
Unfortunately, it is not possible to empty the bins in the following areas: Lingen (Telgenkamp-Biene, city center), Herzlake (sub-areas Dohren, Bookhof, Felsen, Westrum) as well as Börger, Neubörger and Wippingen.

Recommendations for citizens
The AWB would like to point out that no charge will be made for the emptying of residual waste garbage cans.

Households whose residual waste garbage cans overflow before the next emptying can purchase additional bags at a cost of 6 euros per bag. These can be placed next to the garbage cans when the residual waste garbage cans are next emptied at regular intervals. The additional bags are available in the town halls of the municipalities, the district offices and at the recycling centers and central landfills.

Paper, cardboard and recyclables (yellow garbage can) can be handed in free of charge in normal household quantities at recycling centers and central landfills.

Citizens can find more up-to-date information on the website www.awb-emsland.de. We also recommend using the AWB-Emsland app, which can be downloaded at www.awb-emsland.de/app.

The waste disposal companies and the AWB ask for your understanding for the weather-related restrictions. The safety of the refuse collectors, pedestrians and other road users has top priority.
