Waste oil is produced, for example, when changing the oil in lawnmowers, motorcycles, cars or other machines.
This includes non-chlorinated machine oils such as engine oil, gear oil or hydraulic oil.
Waste oil is highly hazardous to the environment: even the smallest amounts can contaminate large quantities of water.
If oil gets into the ground or the sewage system, it causes considerable damage to water, plants and animals.
This is how you can dispose of used oil:
- Free take-back via specialist dealers – dealers who sell oil are legally obliged to take back the corresponding amount of used oil free of charge.
Tip: Keep the receipt as proof of return. - Hazardous waste interim storage facility – Larger quantities of waste oil can be disposed of at the hazardous waste interim storage facility for a fee.
- Central landfills – Small quantities of less than 20 liters or 20 kg can be disposed of in tightly sealed containers at the central landfills for a fee.
Not permitted:
- No acceptance at the pollutant mobile – There is a statutory take-back system for waste oil via the trade.
Important: Please do not mix used oil with other substances such as gasoline, solvents or brake fluid, otherwise it can no longer be recycled.
