Almost nothing works in the household without electricity: whether washing, cooking, cleaning or relaxing – electrical appliances are everywhere. But what to do with them when they break down?
What is a small electrical appliance?
An appliance is a small appliance if no edge is longer than 50 cm.
This includes, for example: the iron, the toaster, the electric toothbrush and even the “blinking” shoes or the singing greeting card (remove the gift of money in advance).
You can dispose of these appliances in this way:
- Central landfills – Bring the appliance to one of our four landfills free of charge.
Opening hours, contact details and all locations can be found here: (Link) - Recycling center – Bring the appliance to one of our 51 recycling centers free of charge.
Opening hours, contact details and all locations can be found here: (Link) - Bulky waste – The appliances can also be taken along with the bulky waste collection.
- Retailers – Many stores will take back old appliances when you buy a new one.
You can return up to 3 old appliances that are no larger than 25 cm free of charge to retailers. This applies to specialist stores with a sales area for electrical appliances of at least 400 m² and also to supermarkets and discount food stores that have a total sales area of at least 800 m² and sell electrical appliances several times a year.
Please note:
- Easily removable batteries must be removed beforehand and disposed of separately via the battery collection (link) before you dispose of the old appliance correctly.
- Delete your personal data!
- Remove printer cartridges and toner from the old device.
