Snowfall, possible snow drifts and slippery roads can mean that heavy refuse collection vehicles must be driven with particular care so as not to endanger pedestrians, refuse collectors and other road users.
Depending on the intensity of the winter weather, there may therefore be restrictions on refuse collection.
In such cases, it is possible that not all streets are visited and waste garbage cans are not emptied. In persistently wintry weather, it is also not always possible to empty the bins later.
Information and tips for citizens:
- Please only take garbage cans that have not been emptied from the roadside if they have not been emptied on the following day of the regular collection day and then put them out again on the next regular collection date.
- Paper/cardboard and recyclables (yellow recycling garbage can) can be disposed of free of charge at recycling centers and central landfills.
- Residual waste garbage cans that are not emptied will not be charged. For residual waste that no longer fits into the waste garbage can before the next fortnightly emptying , additional bags can be purchased for a charge of €6 per bag from the town halls of the municipalities and district halls as well as the recycling centers and central landfills.
The Emsland district waste management company (AWB) and the waste disposal companies ask for your understanding if there are any disruptions or delays in the collection of organic waste, residual waste and paper garbage cans as well as the collection of yellow recycling garbage cans.
