Bulky waste refers to all large, bulky household items that are too big for the residual or recycling garbage can. This includes, for example, furniture, mattresses, carpets (not by the meter) and much more.
Alternative disposal methods:
- Large, bulky items made of metal (e.g. wheelbarrows, garden furniture, children’s slides, etc.) can also be handed in free of charge to one of our central landfill sites or recycling centersduring opening hours.
- Large, bulky items made of hard plastic (e.g. garden furniture, children’s toys, etc.) can be handed in free of charge to one of our central landfill sites during opening hours.
- Large and bulky items made of wood can be disposed of at the central landfill sites for a fee.
What does not belong in the bulky waste
- Construction and demolition waste (which, among other things, was solidly installed in and around the residential property.
- Small waste of any kind (also in boxes/bags) → will not be taken away
- Batteries & removable rechargeable batteries → Dispose of separately (specialist retailer or central landfill)

Registration
Private households that are registered with the AWB can register their bulky waste as follows:
- Online via the form
- By telephone on weekdays at the AWB customer center: 05931 599 699
→ The collection date will be communicated immediately.
Once you have successfully registered online, you will receive an e-mail with the collection date.
Important notes on provision
Please put your bulky waste out:
- only the evening before the appointment
- at the front boundary of the property, easily accessible and not behind hedges, fences, on trailers or in the carport
- at a distance from other objects (cars, bicycles, plants, etc.)
- Separated into electronic waste and normal bulky waste, as two vehicles arrive
Private properties may not be entered by waste disposal vehicles.

- Max. 75 kg
- Max. 2.20 m × 1.50 m × 0.75 m
Bulky waste from businesses, public institutions or clubs is not collected.
Bulky waste – self-delivery
You can also dispose of your bulky waste yourself at a central disposal site.

- It is created within 2 working days.
- The certificate must be present at the time of delivery.
- Up to 6 m³ of bulky waste can be handed in within 14 days –
pre-sorted into wood, metal, electrical and other bulky waste.
Without a delivery bill, the delivery will be subject to a charge.
Alternatives to bulky waste disposal
All items that are still in good condition, in working order or of high quality are worth reusing. This conserves resources and often makes social sense.
