FAQ about the biofilter cover

Which organic waste garbage cans is the biofilter lid suitable for?
The biofilter lid is suitable for all standard bin sizes (40 L, 60 L, 80 L,
120 L and 240 L).

Where can the biofilter lid be ordered?
Orders can be placed easily using the form on our
website (www.awb-emsland.de/service/formulare/) – form (1) or
by calling the AWB Customer Center (from 5 January 2026!) on 05931 / 599 699.

What costs are incurred for use?
Conversion or replacement of the container is free of charge.
An annual fee of €18.00 (€1.50 per month) is charged for the use of the biofilter lid in addition to the regular container fee at

Do I have to fit the biofilter cover myself?
No. Self-assembly is not necessary, as the container is completely replaced when ordering

Should the biofilter in the lid be replaced?
Yes, we recommend replacing the filter every two to three years
. A replacement filter can be requested from the AWB customer center
by calling 05931 / 599 699. The filter will be sent to
by post and can be easily replaced by yourself.

Are there any costs for the replacement filter?
No. The costs for replacement filters are already included in the annual fee

Can the biofilter cover be replaced with a normal cover?

Yes, replacement is possible. Please note: If
the filter lid is replaced with
a normal lid within three years, a service fee will be charged per container
for the container replacement. (see
waste fee statutes, para. 4 sentence 1).
